Julie A. Hoort, Office Manager

Julie received her degree in paralegal studies in 1995. She then began her legal career working for a sole practitioner in Grand Ledge, Michigan. In 1999, tired of the long and (very) cold winters in Michigan, Julie moved to sunny Arizona and was lucky enough to have a job waiting for her as a paralegal for Robert D. Bohm. Over the years, Julie’s role in the firm progressed from litigation paralegal to office manager. While Julie enjoys travel, as anyone who lives across the country from their loved ones will empathize with, most of the travel these days is back to Michigan (preferably in the summer!) to spend time with friends and family.

Laura is a proud and dedicated mother to her young son, an avid fan of professional football, enjoys traveling, and a huge dog lover.

Dorrie Bowers, Paralegal

Dorrie Bowers obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 1994. After teaching for a couple of years, she decided that was not the career she wanted. She began working in law offices in 1996, with her primary focus being in personal injury law. With the exception of moving to Germany to complete high school, Dorrie has lived in Arizona since elementary school. Dorrie spends most of her free time with her son. Together they enjoy camping, traveling and visiting local zoos and museums.

Lory MacArthur, Paralegal

Lory MacArthur has lived with her family in Arizona for the last 15 years. Prior to working at Bohm and Jones, P.C., Lory worked 12 years as a Contract Manager at a leading provider of e-Education enterprise software applications and services in Phoenix, Arizona. Lory is currently pursuing her Associates in Applied Sciences as a Paralegal at Phoenix College. She hopes to add traveling to this list once she again has time after obtaining her Associates Degree.

Amelia Cerecedes, Legal Assistant

Amelia A. Cerecedes began working for Bohm & Jones, P.C. shortly after obtaining her Associates degree in Paralegal Studies from Long Technical College. Amelia spends most of her free time with family and especially her daughter Valerie. She enjoys working out and keeping up with the latest movies.

Sarah Burgess, Legal Assistant

Sarah Burgess obtained her Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Law from Western Michigan University in 2006. Upon completion of her degree, a move out of Michigan's harsh weather was planned. Sarah moved to sunny, prospering Phoenix to start her professional career and began working for Bohm & Jones, P.C. in June, 2007. Sarah plans to continue her education at Arizona State University. She is an avid traveler, with interest in overseas culture and history. She enjoys a frequent practice of Bikram Yoga, and partakes in many outdoor activities. About BOHM & JONES, P.C.

An injury on someone else's property, trauma from a serious motor vehicle accident, injury caused by a drunk driver or by commercial truck. . . these can have a devastating impact on your life. They cause turmoil, uncertainty, and confusion. However, you can take comfort in the fact that the law allows compensation for damages in many of these situations. Through the work of dedicated, experienced legal counsel, fair compensation can be secured, providing monetary relief during a difficult time. But, what legal counsel should you retain? Serious problems call for serious solutions. A call to BOHM & JONES, P.C., will provide the solution you need.

Experience counts...
If you needed brain surgery you would go to a brain surgeon, not a family doctor. By the same token, when you have a legal problem, you should be sure that you have an attorney that is experienced in the right field of law. Some lawyers and firms will handle just about any kind of case in order to generate a fee. They may have a “general” law practice, much the same as a family doctor may have a “general” medical practice. Certainly, some of those lawyers can do a fine job in many areas of law. But often, their experience in specific areas of law may be limited. When that happens, your case may be compromised, or even jeopardized. Both Robert D. Bohm and Mack T. Jones are Arizona Bar Certified Specialists in Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation, and both of them hold the highest rating of “AV” from the prestigious Martindale-Hubble lawyer rating service. When it comes to injury cases, we feel confident that we can help you with even the most complicated case. If we cannot handle your case, we will make a referral to someone who can.

Even worse, some firms will represent insurance companies and other business interests in defending personal injury claims, and yet still accept individual injury cases from the claimant or plaintiff’s side. It is difficult to serve two masters. At BOHM & JONES, P.C., our loyalties are undivided. We never represent insurance companies, liquor licensees, or big business interests. We only represent injured people or individuals, just like you.

We limit our practice to injury and insurance law, including cases involving injury on someone else's property; motor vehicle accident cases, including those involving truck drivers, drunk drivers or wrongful death; faulty product cases; unfair insurance claims and insurance agent malpractice cases. You can learn more about the areas of law that we handle by reviewing the practice areas listed in the menu area to the left and other highlighted areas throughout this website.

We handle cases of almost any size, from small claims to complex, catastrophic injury cases. We are also proud to say that annually we spend thousands of dollars on continuing education so that our attorneys and staff are knowledgable on the latest applications of the law. Finally, we have been recognized as experts by our peers, representing lawyers when they have been injured.

Lawyers for the rest of us . . .
Often people do not seek the guidance of an attorney for fear that doing so would be too expensive and complicated. At BOHM & JONES, P.C., we ease those fears right away. Your first consultation is always FREE. During that first meeting you will find out whether your problem requires the assistance of an attorney and, if so, what we can do to help. Fees and costs are discussed up front. In most injury cases our fees are on a contingency basis. You pay no fee unless we win your case. In those cases, the fee is paid as a percentage of the money you recover.

The most important person in our office is you . . .
When you first enter our offices, you will know that our attorneys, paralegals, and other staff members genuinely care about you and your legal concerns. Our success over the years can largely be attributed to our determination to give each client's case the individual attention it needs and deserves. If we cannot give it that attention, we will tell you so. We do not take cases unless we feel we can devote the resources necessary to attend to them properly. Our goal is to help as many people as we can, in any way that we can. Sometimes that means representing them in reference to various legal matters as their attorneys. Sometimes it means providing them with information and the tools necessary to help themselves. Other times it means referring them to another firm or agency that is better equipped than we to handle the particular problem.

As part of our commitment to our clients, we always try to respond as quickly and carefully as possible to your legal needs. We try to temper the speed of our service with the need to be thorough. We don't want just to take care of your legal needs quickly; we want to take care of them correctly.

We promise to try to get you the results you need and deserve. This can only be accomplished by having experienced, dedicated legal professionals on your side.

At BOHM & JONES, P.C., we are large enough to serve your needs and small enough to care about you on a personal level and show you the respect that you deserve. While one attorney and that attorney's staff is preassigned primary responsibility for your case, the firm’s attorneys meet regularly to discuss cases, making the skill and experience of all our attorneys and other staff available.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury, illness or death, that seems to have been someone else’s fault, call BOHM & JONES, P.C., at 602-840-8787. The initial consultation is free of charge. If we agree to handle your injury case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if, and when, there is a money recovery for you. In many cases a lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. So please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.

Jacob (Jake) M. Steinkemper obtained his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Arizona State University in 1997. He was a member of the ASU baseball team, winning one Pac-10 Championship and earning two trips to the College World Series. The Montreal Expos drafted Jake and he played in the minor leagues in the East and South. After an injury cut short his baseball career, Jake enrolled in Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska, earning his Juris Doctor in 2002. He was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona that same year.

In 2003, Jake enrolled in the MBA program at New York University. While in New York City he also worked as an Attorney to the City of New York Board of Elections, helping oversee the largest and most complex electoral system in the United States. Jake appeared as a Board representative in numerous regulatory, legislative, and judicial proceedings. After being awarded his MBA in 2005, Jake returned to Arizona to practice law.

At BOHM & JONES, P.C., Jake handles cases involving injuries on property, motor vehicle collisions, and uninsured and underinsured motorist claims. He successfully revolves cases for his clients through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration.

Although Jake has lived in many different states, Arizona is “home.” He enjoys the rare distinction of being a Phoenix native, and remembers the “good old days” when the city only had one professional sports team, the Phoenix Giants. Jake spends much of his free time following local sports, and is involved in golf, softball, and bowling leagues. Jake enjoys traveling and working out to keep his physical and intellectual “edge.” Jake's motto is: “Sports do not build character. They reveal it.”
